Approach

Our approach to designing websites is to come up with a design that our clients like, that fits the demographic of our client's target market, (visitors). We then use good layout and design principles in putting the site together.

The process

Listen

Each web site contract will have different requirements. The first step we take, is to listen to the client. Sometimes a client has great experience and knowledge in what they are looking for, yet other times, it is a brand new project, where the client simply wants to know where to start.

Questions

Followed by listening to the client we will have a variety of questions to a client. This is our first step where our experience and abilities starts to form together a plan. We will ask questions about who the intended visitors are and what the client knows about their own visitors, what our client wants to provide to the website visitors and what our client wants from these visitors.

Feedback

After the questions and sharing of information, we try to provide a basic summary of what we can provide along the lines of what the client has provided us in background and explain this approach here as it applies to the specific case.

Note: web sites have many different reasons for being online and the purpose of a web site visitor can vary. Your site may be an information web site, it may be a commercial website, directed at selling a product, or increasing brand and product awareness. Some sites are to add to assessibility to the company, organization or individual, as a form of communication, to a from a broad or narrow group of people. Knowing who the intended visitor is and breaking down this objective helps define how a website should be built. What may work for selling a product, may be counter productive to providing and sharing information.

The code

The web sites we build have compliant HTML, CSS, javascript, optimized for speed of loading, ease of reading, and conformity with most popular browsers. Using proper web standards for publishing web pages, helps you classify the data you are trying to display. Without using a standard, it can be very difficult to make sure your site renders how it was intended to the web browser. A good way to look at using proper standards for web publishing, is to compare it to using proper grammar and spelling. It may not make the idea you are trying to get across any better, but at least you can check that the information you are supplying is not going to be hindered by bad grammer and spelling.

Images

Working with images and graphics, for websites we build is another important part of our process, where special care is applied to the quality, proper file types and file size of the published images. There is a trade off to creating high quality images versus small file sizes for speed of loading, which takes special professional care and experience.
